Mother's Day: Gifts & Day Date Ideas!
It’s that time of year again - spring flowers are starting to pop up, the weather is getting a little bit warmer, and Mother’s Day is right around the corner! Whether you’re near or far, thankfully, we have so many great digital resources at our finger tips to connect with mom, mother-like figures, and all of the loved ones in our lives. I pulled together a few gifts and ideas that are sure to tug on mom’s heart strings and show her how much you care. Although, as we all know, there are never enough praises we could give to repay her for all of the selfless love she’s given us over the years.
When my sister and I were younger, my mom used to pretend to be a made up character ‘Miss Suzy Q’ - a cook, hair stylist, and dance-in-the-kitchen wonder woman. It made us laugh as we ate breakfast and got our hair done on the weekends. It’s little moments like this that make you smile to yourself so many years later as an adult and acknowledge just how much went into raising you. Here’s to all of the women and mother-figures who have truly done it all, wore so many hats, kissed all of the scraps and bruises, and loved us endlessly.
If you’re running behind on grabbing a gift, don’t worry - you don’t need shipping for any of these! Your welcome ;)

Bake It
Together: I love the idea of creating something together whether you’re hanging out with mom virtually or you’re in the house together. It creates the perfect space to bond, fail, build, and have some fun. I recently made a veggie quiche, and I think it has just enough steps to be an activity, yet it’s not overly complicated. I think banana bread or a cake is great too.
For her: If you’re in the area, you can always surprise her by dropping off one of her favorite dishes. I feel like my mom is always overjoyed to see us when she least expects it, so this is a great way to brighten her day, even if it’s leaving a treat and flowers at the door and waving from your car!
Make It
Together: The rise of gardening at home has really become a great way to connect. You can easily grab mini pots, soil, and seeds at the store. Then, have a little gardening session and ask mom to tell you some funny stories about what it was like to raise you as a kid!
For her: While you’re spending a little more time at home, take an hour or two to put together a sweet, yet funny video of childhood photos of you and your siblings from birth to now. Enlist your brothers and sisters to create a few “recreation” photos to sneak in there for laughs, and ask dad to help you out with some old embarrassing photos of mom. There’s nothing like old memories and good laughs on mom’s day. (Video Tip: Download an app to help you easily stitch together the photos, add movement, and music!)
Take It
Together: The world is adapting right before our eyes and there are so many fun activities being hosted online. Schedule to take a class online and learn something new together. Anything from yoga to painting to calligraphy would be fun to switch things up.
For her: Is mom a big conference or seminar type of gal? Well, purchase surprise tickets for her to take a virtual seminar online from one of her favorite speakers or brands.
Don’t forget to order some flowers to be delivered on May 10th, because who doesn’t love some beautiful blooms? I hope you all find some amazing ways to connect with mom - near, far, driving by her house, or video chats - don’t let that stop you from creating amazing memories.
Happy planning!
