2020 Trends Roundup
I am absolutely living for this season’s trends in colors, home goods, celebrity favorites and luxury events! Every year, I like to sit down and research these areas in magazines and online for fresh inspiration to fuel party and decor ideas for the year ahead and keep an eye on the latest trends.
I pulled together my favorite trends that can help bring out the party planner in all of us!
Pantone’s Color of the Year 2020
Let’s start with Pantone’s color of the year. Each year, since at least the early 2000s, Pantone announces the hue that will set the tone for designs in everything from furniture to fashion, which designers and luxe event planners keep an eye out for as it sets the tone for the year. The 2020 winner is: Classic Blue. This would be perfect to accent white and gold decor or add a gentle pop of color for a birthday or graduation party. I’ve also been seeing a lot of pastels (no surprises with spring around the corner), but they are being incorporated in tie-die prints and fun patterns. This could be a great jump off point for a 90s party theme or bachelorette party.
Home Decor inspiration
For the past few years, all-white, monochrome, modern home style has ruled the internet. This year, that is definitely changing! Decor sites are proclaiming that bold pops of color, sharp black and white contrasts, antique artwork, and playful prints (in tasteful amounts) will take over the decor trends. If you’ve been feeling inspired to do a little #homereno to prep for at-home entertaining this year, take a look below for some inspiration.
I always like to have great accent pieces in our apartment that can go with any party setting especially dinner parties or occasions that require minimal decor. When your apartment or home has the right staple pieces, it’s always ready for entertaining. Stay tuned for post with more on party pieces!
Celebrity parties inspiration
Celebrities having been showing off over-the-top themes, monochrome party decor, and silk PJs are the new LBD (aka little black dress). If you’ve been following my blog for a little while, you know I LOVE a good themed party. Here’s some recent jaw-dropping inspiration from Kylie Jenner’s daughter’s birthday party and Malika Haqq’s gorgeous baby shower:
Luxury event inspiration
It looks like detailed dessert tables and grand photo op areas from recent years are going to be sticking around in 2020, but a new trend we’re seeing is ‘green’ catering and interactive centerpieces that allow guests to clip fresh herbs right onto their plate as seen on PartySlate.com and the move to chic brunch style parties instead of dinner events.
Spring is always the perfect season to pull yourself out of hibernation (if you have cold winters like us Chicago folks), and get inspired to find new ways to spark your creativity. I can’t wait to find fun new ways to tie this inspiration into events and special occasions for the upcoming year.
Head back over to Instagram or Facebook and let me know what you events you’re planning this year!
Happy Party Planning,
